Press Release Body = Advances in automotive emissions control technology have forced the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) to update the latest version of the ASE Test L1: Advanced Engine Performance test.
The generic composite vehicle: known as \"Composite Vehicle Type 3\" is the latest update to the ASEupon which some of the test questions are referenced, has been revised. ASE says the changes refl L1 Test.
Notable changes from the previous composite vehicle include variable valve timing, drive-by-wire throttle, a data communications bus, a vehicle antitheft immobilizer system, electronically controlled EGR and on-board refueling vapor recovery (ORVR) evap components.
The engine used is a generic fourcycle, V6 engine with four overhead chain-driven camshafts, 24 valves, distributorless ignition and a mass airflow-type closed-loop sequential multiport fuel injection system. The composite vehicle also has a fourspeed automatic overdrive transaxle, with shifting now being controlled by a separate transmission control module (TCM).
